General Security Inc. has an immediate position available for a Fire and Security alarm technician to join our team.
Our company is consistently nationally ranked in the top 35 in a widely recognized Industry publication, Security Distributing & Marketing Magazine (SDM). The publication ranks the top 100 Security Dealers in the Country on an annual basis.
We have a need for skilled security technicians with industry experience. Salary will be commensurate with experience and skill level. Factory training may be provided on our premier product offerings including but not limited to Interlogix, Qolsys and Honeywell. Candidate duties will include installing and servicing Intrusion/Burglary, Fire & CCTV Systems. Technicians may also work on network based systems, including IP video solutions. Technicians will service, maintain, and install these systems working both independently, and as part of a team. Candidate may work with both commercial and residential accounts and will also be part of our on call rotation.
Candidate must be able to perform the following tasks:
- Work with hand tools and power tools
- Work on ladders and or scaffolding
- ability to lift 50 75 lbs. to carry equipment, ladders or tools

Collections Specialist
Collections Specialist
Long Island-based security alarm company is looking for experienced collectors. Alarm experience is helpful, but not necessary. Some evening and weekend hours required. Full- and part-time positions available. Strong customer service skills required.
Candidate must be able to perform the following tasks:
- The duties of a Collections Specialist include collection calls and/or correspondence in a fast paced goal oriented collections department
- Providing customer service regarding collection issues, process customer refunds, process and review account adjustments, resolve client discrepancies and short payments. Responsible for monitoring and maintaining assigned accounts.
- Customer calls, account adjustments, small balance write off, customer reconciliations and processing credit memos.
- Coordinate inspections and/or installations with police, fire departments, or other appropriate agencies.
- Accountable for reducing delinquency of assigned accounts.
- Enlist the efforts of sales and senior management when necessary to accelerate the collection process.
- Must communicate & follow up effectively with other departments regarding customer accounts on a timely basis.
- Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with dealers and sales.
Essential Functions:
- Regular reporting to direct supervisor.
- Regular Customer Delinquency notices
- Processing monthly credit memos and the appropriate reporting
- High volume phone calls to assigned delinquent customers.
- Manage customers on the hold report
- Reconcile customer disputes as they pertain to payment of outstanding balances that are due.
- Provide excellent & considerate customer service.
- Participate in team planning meetings.
- Meet defined department goals and activity metrics.
Compensation:

The Residential Service Technician is a troubleshooter and service expert who is responsible for alleviating problems and issues the customer may have regarding a security system. The Residential Service Technician satisfies customers in a professional manner.
Requirements:
- Locate and alleviate trouble with damaged equipment or wiring.
- Install new equipment, repair or replace inoperative equipment and test for operation.
- Prepare trouble order forms to report temporary repairs.
- Coordinate inspections and/or installations with police, fire departments, or other appropriate agencies.
- Understand security, Video and access systems
Education / Work Experience Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent, technical trade school a plus.
- Minimum 2 years experience installing and inspecting/repairing ADT or comparable product line.
Core Competencies:
- Excellent communication skills.
